Arunachal Pradesh is proud to be the homeland of highest Mithun population in India with 2,19,430 heads (Liv. census ,2007). Mithun (Bos frontalis) is deeply rooted in the socio-cultural and religious life of the Arunachalees. It has the highest value on the barter table and often the wealth of the person is judged based on the Mithuns that one possesses. Mithun serves as the ready source of the finance for the rural people in time of economic crisis like education of children and religious rituals etc. and meat is considered as the delicacy item in the community feast.

  • Conservation of pure germ-plasm of Mithuns in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • To study the adaptability of Mithuns under Farm conditions.
  • 1.And to evolve a package of practices for the Mithun rearers by field trial on milking and ploughing ability of Mithun.

The Farm is headed by a Manager with 1 Asstt. Veterinarian and 2 Stockmans.
